Queens funeral - visiting dignitaries
Discussion
Seeing as we are about to house possibly the biggest gathering of heads of state and royal families ever assembled, I can imagine an impeccable array of aircraft will be arriving here shortly. WIll these likely use public airfields as previously if just one or two aircraft were arriving, or would a dedicated airfield somewhere like RAF Northolt be a better solution as it can offer a higher degree of security and easier London access?

Thought Stansted may see some action.
Didn’t the US Prez use Stansted on a state visit?
Yes when Obama came over in 2016 he did land at Stanstead as we had just left a restaurant in Chigwell and ended up behind the cavalcade, as we joined from the slip road.Didn’t the US Prez use Stansted on a state visit?
Seems I was a bit close as a sign came up on the rear Range Rover saying “Back Off”
Decided to drop back in case a machine gun was aimed at us 😄

yes, I was driving down the m11 when he flew over in Marine 1 plus seemingly half our active helicopters (slight exaggeration) and was overtaken by the motorcade of those travelling 2nd class shortly afterDidn’t the US Prez use Stansted on a state visit?
It's going to be one hell of a logistical nightmare to sort out. I was reading that they would be putting on coaches for the heads of states to avoid masses of private vehicles going there. Can't help thinking that's a bad idea from a security POV. Also can't see Biden getting on a coach!
Apparently HMG has asked foreign heads of state to travel by commercial airlines if possible. I guess because there isn’t space to park 100+ private planes with security for them around the country.
No doubt POTUS will come in on AF1, and perhaps Putin and Xi will do likewise. Europeans leaders - who knows? If they want to use their own planes they could always have them do a drop off and collect service returning to base in the interim.

Might watch London Has Fallen again. Just so I can work out what to do ICE.

Somehow I can't see Putin coming. Of course, he's welcome to come over here, I'm sure a suitable "accident" could be arranged for his flight.Edited by BlackWidow13 on Monday 12th September 10:45

I'd heard it was going to be car sharing. Each UK guest will pick up a couple of foreign leaders from the Ryanair flight and put them up for a couple of nights at their home, then ferry them between the funeral and the buffet. Prince Andrew has a few more spare seats in his people carrier.

As a matter of interest, has there been a previous time when so many Heads of State, VIPs etc have been expected to arrive for a national event? Death of Victoria in 1901 perhaps? But it would have taken some of them a long time to get here...
Churchill's state funeral in 1965 was probably last time, or before that, the late Queens Coronation in 1953.There would likely have been more at her Coronation in '53 than will be at her funeral.?
