handbrake adjustment
Discussion
R3 Handbrake effectiveness does not last long after servicing. Similar experience as with previous Tuscan. Newtown note adjustment can only be taken up so far to avoid binding. I asked the question of them how I could adjust myself but an answer was seemingly avoided by them. Can anyone enlighten me pse on said
handbrake adjustment to avoid any possible cock-up by me ?
The correct method is to de-adjust the handbrake cable
(slacken) through the little inspection hatch behind the passenger seat in the transmission tunnel.
Jack up and support the car and remove the rear wheels.
Through the hole in the disc adjust up the little toothed wheel until it locks the disc.
Slacken it until it runs free.
Re-adjust the handbrake cable to 3/4 clicks.
Car off jack/stands.
Refit inspection panel.
Hey presto !
However if it is a higher mileage car you really should remove the discs and clean all the guk out as well.(part of a high mileage service)
