If I have a HomePod in the same room as a couple of iPhones, iPads etc., and say ‘hey siri, play x, y or z’, does it automatically default to the HomePod?

Thinking of buying a few, if only for the intercom function to stop people screaming at each other up the stairs…

Personally, I’d avoid HomePod’s after 3 of my original 4 have died at less than 3.5 years old.

I’ve replaced them around the house with Dot 4’s for a fraction of the cost.

But, there’s a Siri article here -

We’ve got three in our home and all seem to respond well to the Siri command even if an iPad or iPhone is in the same room.

Mine always defaults to the HomePod. To be honest though I’m not that impressed with it. The sound quality is good but the functionality is poor, for example if I just ask it to ‘play music’ it plays really random stuff and it never plays the radio station you ask it to.
