Are you sure you want to watch this topic?

Sometimes I click the watch button by accident, so double checking is fine by me.
It's hardly like un-watching a topic is a hardship. Doubling the number of button clicks for the happy path is a poor user experience when compared with the number of times you would expect to click it by accident.deckster said:

This. I hardly ever click watch by mistake, the double click for watch and bookmark is a poor move.If you must have a second click after "watch", could it instead be to categorise why you're watching it so you can filter threads later?
"I want to read the whole thread, but it's too long for one sitting"
"I want to write a reply, but I don't have time right now"
"This thread already has major drama and will soon go completely to s
t, and I want to be there when it happens"

Click "Watch" at the bottom of this thread. Then click it again if you want to "Watch" because you might have changed your mind in the second it took to ask you if you really want to watch the thread you have just clicked to watch.
Well you can't be too sure nowadays.
Heaven help if you click "Watch" by mistake, you will end up having to click to remove the thread from your "Stuff", then be asked if you are sure you want to delete this thread so you have to click delete again.
Surprised we are not asked the same question when we click the "Submit" button

And I was only thinking this morning, “I wish there was a way that I could press more buttons when I’m trying to carry out a very standard, basic function on PH!”
Cheers for the tweek.
Is there any long term plan to bring the overall software and GUI up to modern standards? Built in image hosting, WYSIWYG text editor, fixing all these various glitches and fudges?
What you lot do to keep this site going on a shoestring budget and minimal manpower is impressive but the lack of investment is showing.

I can't really elaborate further, but it's been done to enhance the security of the forums. Sorry for the extra click, but it isn't going away.
If adding an extra button to confirm that the user is sure they want to watch or bookmark a thread is a security enhancement, I'll eat my hat.Truly awful UX implementation, when effort is badly needed elsewhere - reinstating the highlighted user quotes being a particularly good example.
