Double sided coin

When I was young in the late 60s I remember having a double sided imperial penny. I assume somebody somehow ground two in half and stuck them together.

I have no idea where it came from or went but never saw one again.

Has anybody ever seen any modern coins that are double sided?

They seem to be widely available as a magicians prop nowadays, could it have been the same in the 1960's?
