High Mileage 1.2 TSI Engine (VAG)

I had a look at a very nice 2014 Scoda Octavia the other day £4,700. Drives well spotless. FSH but the mileage is a high 118k.

I've read a bit and can't find much about this engine. I think it's a good sign. Most of what I could find was relating to the older (pre2013/14 tsi which was chain driven). The only issue I could find is it may consume a around a litre of oil every 100 miles or so. Funny the oil looked brand new.

It seems to have sat on a motorway for its life and my intention is to put it back on a motorway for the next 4 or 5 years or 40 or 50k. Any insight into its ability to do that? or will it go the way ofTriggers broom?

Something I wouldn't have looked at pre pandemic hence my query.
Expensive for what it is I know but the market continues to be a joke.

Ex stuck 180k on her Fabia in 3 years with as a driving school car with very few problems Still got it as a spare car and it’s still running fine .

Not typically a problematic engine as far as I can see... Good for 50-55-ish mpg on the run, bit short of poke but usable.

If you're buying for mostly motorway miles though, is there a particular reason for petrol over diesel?

Thanks for the replies. Good to hear there's 180k mileage cars out there. Autotrader seems a bit sparce over 125k in this engine.

Really no preference on fuel type the octavia came up and it was between it and a 105k 16 diesel 308 around the same money.

Funny WBAC tells me the Octavia should be half the price of the Peugeot which is a bit of an alarm bell.

We I have a 1.2TSi Škoda Fabia (‘13 plate). It has done 70k miles in 9 years. Although they supplied a plastic bottle of oil for the running-in period, and it used it, it has NEVER subsequently needed a top-up between services. For the Fabia size, it is an excellent engine for town and rural use.
