MOT during PCP

I'm about to take out a PCP for 3 years on a new car. I know that I'm responsible for correct servicing, tyres etc but just wondering if I'll need to get it MOT'd before handing it back? It'll be on VAG finance if that makes any difference.

If the MOT falls due while its still in your possession, then yes.

However, usually the three year term means your hand back date will be just before it becomes due.

I've always arranged to hand it back a week or so before the MOT is due.

The dealer will do it themselves.

This, I avoided the final service and MOT on the last one which was a happy little saving

I hope you did your maths on that one. When the PCP on our little Aygo was up in March, I paid the 5 grand final payment, serviced it, MOTd it, and sold it for ten grand a week later. Mental second-hand car values this year have meant that you can do very well out of GFVs that were set three years back.

Yes, Did the same with a Reanult Zoe. Sold to Motorway for £7k above the baloon payment.

Yes I did as I actually wanted to keep it, it was well before the healthy bump up in prices we see now. end of PCP was something like 20% more than I could've bought the same car for on A/T

Something that I had never considered, here in NI first MOT for a passenger car is at 4 years old. Most leases are for 3 years.
