Hi all .... interesting one for me ... after changing my 1999 Chimaera stock 400 cover this year due to some interesting quotes received from some of the well known insurers I have received this question from them today:

As you have stated one of modifications is the fitting of an ACT stainless steel "Cherry Bomb Sports system.
Can you inform us of the likely increases in Bhp above the stock car:

Stock car ....... Bhp
Increase due to exhaust system ...... Bhp
Total ........ BHp

So I am not going to quote anyone but .... any ideas of the stock Bhp numbers as sold presumably, and whether there is any increases in power with this well known system? The rest of the car is stock.

Anyone else had this level of scrutiny ?

Cheers

Personally I say this is a win win situation:

Stock (as in factory claimed) - 240bhp
Exhaust increase - 10bhp (random figure but you'll get the point)
New current level - 220bhp

Seeing as they never made what was stated/claimed, I'd ask for a reduction in premium ! biglaugh

Hi, insurance always tricky, better to lean towards honest. But, a lesson from a friend with an Audi RS6. His was modified, but, the insurance company made no change in the premium as they said they are already insane, and any more insane makes no difference. I am not sure I would have claimed the exhaust as a modification? Just more noise, no more or less insane?
