I recently bought a 2019 430i on about 21,000 miles. I have noticed recently that the engine sounds very lumpy, almost like it has dropped a cylinder or something. Is this a problem anyone has come across before?

Thanks!

Any fault codes showing?

I had a F10 320i while driving home on the M6 suddenly started acting rough and lost power felt like it was misfiring, no warning lights.
Limped home car taken in under warranty. Turned 2 injectors had failed. I'd get it checked sooner rather that later

No there are no fault codes showing, the car had just had a full service before I bought it (spark plugs etc). I have only had it for about a week so I am surprised something has gone wrong.

If you bought it from a dealer take it back.

I’ve got an F30 330i, same engine. It’s just passed 50k miles.

So far, it’s needed:

Replacement PCV system & inlet manifold
New turbo
Replacement “Oil filter housing” - this is unique to the 30i version of the B48 and is actually an oil / water heat exchanger that’s made of plastic

It’s also thrown an EML with error codes relating to catalyst function, reset by dealer & not recurred and passed MoT with no emissions problem.

It does feel lumpy occasionally. But only as it starts to drop off cold start, which is usually happening at the end of the driveway. Distinctly lumpy, can be felt through the floor and the controls. This disappears completely a couple of minutes after starting. Of course, no fault codes stored.

I’ve extended the BMW warranty, as there’s no way I’m running this car without cover.
