After returning my wife's lease Kia Xceed I was on the hunt for something interesting looking, preferably coupe, petrol & manual. Needed to be able to seat 2 kids in the back comfortably. Considered a Mercedes CLK, E46 3 series, Audi TT & various other stuff.
I've always liked Volvo's & needing a car asap (note to self never do this again as desperation & delusion sets in rapidly) a C70 presented it's self locally, in budget (ish) & was basically what I was looking for. I've never owned a convertible before although my wife did have a Vauxhall tigra in the past.

Had it a few months now & it's been pretty uneventful. That was until the roof decided to malfunction & on occasion not go down! Had it looked at & hopefully it's just a new module.
I need to get the wheels refurbished and a bit of paint work sorted.
It's terrible on fuel & not the swiftest of machines (does make a rather pleasant noise) but all in all we both like it, the kids love it & it's sparked many a position conversation while we've been out in it.
I'd like to upgrade the stereo to something modern with Android, bluetooth etc.

Thanks! Its not in bad shape for its age. Will look nicer with the paint & wheels sorted.
I drive roof down whenever I get the chance.

Lovely car!
I too recently joined the world of convertibles, with a Renault Megane folding hard top. Rubbish car, but you forgive it much when you can drive with the roof down - it's great fun! And, the car seems to attract a lot of attention.
Somehow it feels very decadent...

I'm interested in your experiences with this, as I'm considering one to replace my Saab convertible some time in the future. Anyone had experience of both and got any views on how they compare?
How bad is the fuel consumption? I average 38mpg in the Saab on a mix of town and 20-mile trips. More spirited driving sees it drop to 30-ish, and a longer run on the motorway will see 42-ish.

Nice car. While the N/A 2.4 is thirsty and not the fastest thing out there, it is very smooth.
There are countless tales on Volvo forums and Facebook groups of people buying the Bluepower stereos for C30/S40/V50/C70s and having all sorts of issues. Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired too, from what I've read.
Grom make a unit that you can hide behind the dash and replaces the CD player with something that you can pair a phone to. The link is here if you're interested, one of these is on the to-do list for my C30 T5.

There are only a couple of real options out there, either the expensive and unreliable Bluepower unit or a Grom. This is because the car settings and heating/ventilation controls are all run by the head unit, as well as the speakers being connected via fibre optics rather than ordinary wires. All ok so far. It's extremely smooth given its age, weight & being a convertible

Nice!
Just got a 2004 C70 2.0T coming from a c63 2013, lol.
Got it for £1850.00 and battered it for 4,000 miles, not skipped a beat!
Honestly the fuel consumption is only marginally better than the AMG, which is pretty insane!
How the suspension on yours? Mine is making noises

Irrespective of how I drive it around town it won't top mid 20s mpg.
Did a 250 mile round trip last weekend in it (80% motor way with the cruise set bang on 70) managed to get it to 38mpg.
I expected it to be bad but it's surprising just how bad it actually is! Fortunately it will unlikely exceed 4000 miles pa

The GROM seems to be the best option I've came across. Looked at the Bluepower but not to deeply.

I read all about the issues. Been chatting to a guy on the C70 Facebook group who comes highly recommended. Had it on the Volvo VIDA. He seems confident it needs a new module so fingers crossed it is.

Lovely. Word of warning on the roof, they can be HORRENDOUSLY nightmarish to diagnose and fix if faulty. We had one in our workshop for about 18 months (Volvo specialist, no doubt!)
Other than that, they're brilliant things.
