I have an aftermarket hardtop for a soft top car.

I need to replace the seals along the top that seal against the door windows (just the top edge).

I cannot find out anything, anywhere, about what all the different seal profiles are for and what they do. How are they designed, why?

Does anyone here have knowledge of this, er, less glamorous part of automotive design. And can you recommend me a profile to use now that I’ve just insulted your area of expertise?

Apologies, I'm not of the weatherstripping fraternity.

But if I was, I would want to know a little more information:

What car is it?

What after market roof is it?

Do you still have some of the original weatherstripping? If you do, maybe upload a picture?

The more details you can give, the more chance there is of someone on here being able to help.

It’s an elise, of the sort that never had a factory hardtop, so i have an aftermarket one.

The kind that does have a factory hardtop has side window top seals that look like this:
