Hello! I've just joined to site because I'm desperate to find a new car, and am just going round in circles. I'm looking for a compact/mid-size family SUV (think Qashqai or Sportage type size) but I'm struggling to find one that ticks all the boxes. My current little Hyundai ix20 is rapidly on the way out - I have 2 weeks before the MOT is due and I declare it off-road. So I either need to find the car of my dreams within that time, or have one in mind to get down the line that will meet all the criteria, and I'll just get a cheapo second hand one to keep me going.
Essentials:
Compact/Mid-size SUV
Petrol or petrol hybrid (plug in Hybrid would be Ok) but not full electric
Really good boot space, including a decent size hidden compartment under the boot floor (should be flat loading, no lip!) to hide Christmas presents!
A ROUND steering wheel - I absolutely hate these flat-bottomed ones
A 360 camera system
Heated front seats
Heated steering wheel
Powerful aircon
Android Auto and Apple carplay
Rear seats that fold level with boot floor
Wireless phone charging
Must be able to cope well with rugged country lanes, including muddy and icy hills
0-60 in no less than 10 seconds
Really good safety tech without being annoying
Bonus points if:
Manual transmission - never used auto, think I'd get bored!
Physical buttons/knobs/dials for aircon and audio
Voice recognition for things like phone calls, audiobooks and SatNav
Cooling front seats
Rear windows that roll down fully
A sun/moon/panoramic roof (what even is the difference between these?!) but only if electrically operated
A consistently quiet drive without too much road or wind noise either
The choice to AVOID leather seats. I really don't like them!
Absolute top price around £45k, but ideally more like £30k!
The nearest thing I've found is the new Nissan X-Trail, but that's actually rather too big for me! Also it's not actually been released yet and I haven't seen any reviews or anything so I only have their own marketing to go off! If anyone has and similar suggestions please shout!
