Interested in peoples opinions on the manual box Please? I’ve watched the YouTube video by Harry and others praising the manual but wanted to hear any real world owner opinion please? Particularly in terms of what it’s like to live with, does it add to the ownership experience, what are the ratios like for real world etc?

The manual change is lovely and the clutch light. The gearing is long however, and seventh is to be treated as an overdrive. Think of it a six speeder with a motorway ratio.
The autoblip makes me smile.
The PDK is a brilliant thing, I've had both, and I prefer the manual.

Thanks! I’m a confirmed manual box guy and have had two manual GT4s now, have driven a PDK GT4 and it left me cold in terms of reduced driver involvement etc. the 7th as overdrive sounds fine to me, seems the actual ratios on the other gears are a bit lower and hence more useable on the 992 than the GT4 which really are stupidly long, plus the torque of the turbo will help massively I suspect.

Not sure if resale of a manual box GTS will be affected as most cars are PDK - so far fewer potential second hand buyers for the manual?

Drove manual and PDK GTS back to back at PEC….loved the manual box, definitely more involving….but opted for the PDK. No rights or wrongs.

As per the previous post, no rights and wrongs here. If you’re a manual fan, you won’t be disappointed; I bloody love mine. If my car was a daily driver I’d have gone PDK but for my weekend fun, very pleased.

I’ve become a real fan of auto blip. I’ve driven manuals for 25 years and didn’t think it would be necessary but it def assists smooth changes and makes you smile.

The only thing I would like is a little more sound from the exhaust. The best sound is 6-7,000 rpm which is nearly 40mph in first, 70mph in second and a ton in third.

Interesting post, thanks. My GT4 sounds pretty poor also to be fair. Hopefully the 992 GTS is a bit better than that!

I went for PDK as I knew that's just what I wanted, to experience the best dual clutch transmission system out there! DCT was good in my previous E92 M3 and F82 M4 Comp, but PDK takes it another level higher.

I have driven a friend's 718 GT4 manual and really enjoyed it, so I can definitely see the appeal and why people want manual. As said above, no right or wrong and all about personal preference.

It’s a personal choice, go for whatever you prefer. It’s that simple.

Or far fewer potential second hand manual cars for those who want one?

I think it is the balance between supply and demand that will influence price rather than the absolute numbers.

Very true, years ago had an M4 daily driver with a manual box - only 1 car in 20 was a manual, sold it easily enough when I was
Finished with it as a guy sought it out.

Limited experience with the 992 - must confess, haven’t really warmed to it yet.
However, have owned three engine/gearbox combinations on the 991 - 991.1 C4GTS (PDK), 991.2 GT3 Touring (6spd Manual) and 991.2 C2 (7spd Manual).
The latter has been my favourite for regular use and the manual box is well suited to the turbo engine delivery, which you would have on the 992.
The clutch is light and the gear change sweet and it all provides a nice engaging feel.
