Hi Tony1963, just found the government policy around clearance.

Government Policy said:

It is Cabinet Office/MOD policy that individuals should not make public the level of security clearance they hold; this includes staff disclosing their vetting status in order to secure employment opportunities. Individuals should also ensure that any reference to holding a security clearance on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn is removed in order to protect them from personnel security risks that can arise if they draw attention to their level of vetting on-line.

Seems logical really as I always thought clearance wasn't necessarily about working out if you can keep a secret but more about making sure only people who need sensitive information have it and know how to use it and share it. And just as importantly know not to tell people who may want to steal it who they are so the baddies don't know who to kidnap and torture for it.

How long does an NDA or security clearance last...how long until I can tell (or how long do I need to wait to be safe from finding balaclava-clad, gun-wielding security forces at the side of my bed)?

Or is it 'Fight Club' rules?

Just ask Tony the OP, did he tell you he has security clearance?

if you ask nicely he will take you into his secret work place and show you whatever you want. Although he’s a bit busy showing round some nice Chinese tourists he’s just met at the moment.

If you would rather go on your own, he’s got a personal number plate on his car that’s his security code for the door.

And I haven’t declared on here my level of security clearance.
Better still, my memory struggles to retain anything that might be of interest to anyone who might want to know.

Just bear in mind that many military aircraft tech manuals are freely available online!

While never needing any clearance for myself, I was for a while involved in the process of obtaining base security clearances for some workers. You need "security clearance" just to be on some sites for nothing more important than, for example, checking the drains out.
Balaclavas not required, hi vis is though.
Not that i am in any way impugning what the OPs job may or may not be.

I can't remember what I've signed over the years, but at one point it felt like I was signing the same documents, every couple of weeks, for the same 'organisation' just at a different site.

When I held my DV+, nobody gave a stuff what happened in your personal life as long as you were open and honest and you were unblackmailable. You could shag goats for all they cared as long as you didn't try and hide it. Having a foreign wife caused me more of headache than points on a licence.

Is gobbing off on a website about your security clearance a form of virtue signalling, drawing attention to oneself unnecessarily and without any relevance to anything? Possibly.
