Hi, can anyone recommend someone who can repair the odometer in my 94 chimaera? Thanks in advance

Has it stopped as the 10,000 cylinder rotated? If so, that's quite common, it can be encouraged to rotate by vigorous banging with the palm of your hand while driving. I suggest a passenger does the banging

It stopped at 65601, I’ve tried reversing round a car park several times and some gentle tapping, I’ll have to try more vigorously, thanks.

Resetting the trip vigorously was what persuaded mine to work again.
Took a few trips though!

Great, thanks, mine doesn’t have a trip meter as it’s an early car

My S series is currently stuck on 39999.9, I just spent most of the afternoon banging the dash all the way up the M1. frown

This is the normal way they fail. That 10,000 cylinder has only moved 3 times since the car was made. Not surprising that they get stuck

Try these guys, they supplied TVR originally.

My odometer failed, it couldn't be repaired so I bought a replacement from them, £195+Vat, they will set the mileage for you as well.

How do they know what mileage to set them to if the mileage shown is not the true mileage due to failure?

I took mine apart.

Can been done if you are very careful. A set of tools from ebay for taking mobile phones apart is a good purchase.

They will set it to what ever history you have, they set mine to the mileage shown on the last MOT.

Mine stopped for about a week (17 years ago). I took the view that I'll either break it or will try and make it work - following advice from here (they were available to purchase at the time).

Whilst driving at about 60/70mph smacked the hell out of it (on the face) with my knuckles, and after 2/3 attempts it started working again. Worth a try first...??
