Can anyone tell me are you able to pay back a tax bill early to HMRC if you previously agreed for this to be payed back through your tax code?.

A little bit more information, earlier this year i was hit with a small tax bill after doing my SA. I agreed through SA that i will pay the bill back though my PAYE by changing my taxcode and for the bill to be paid in 12 months. I now want to pay the reminder off this tax bill in full and for my taxcode to go back to default. I've looked on the gateway and i am unable to see if you can do it there.

Is this something HMRC can do or am i tied into the 12 month payback through HMRC. I will ring them up Friday but thought i will ask here first.

Thanks

Give them a ring and you can make a payment over the phone - alternatively, you can do it in the same place, online, that you submit your tax return. Give it a couple of days then ask them to recalculate your code and you should be good to go.
