Sound system is somewhat lacking in my 53 reg mk1. Has anyone info or experience on fitting speakers into rear bulkhead like on chims. I just have the pillars 4" ones and it just aint enough. I have been planning to fit 165mm blaupunkts with a very shallow depth so shouldnt intrude more than 25-30 mm beyond trim but i cant bring myself to make a hole. Or is there a better place to fit them ?Will be gratefull for any info. Thanks Dave.

Just upgraded my stereo & speakers but at the moment I have stuck with 4" speakers but upgraded them with some MB Quart DSD-210 4" 2-Way Discus Components which i bought for £55.00 off E-Bay & the difference is amazing. Having a seperate tweeter just next to the 4" speaker means that I have not had to get a custom built parcel shelf etc.
Don't get me ewrong this is never going to compete with a good set of larger speakers but I am not interested in blowing my ear drums I just wanted to be able to hear my music at speeed with the roof off without distortion.
If you want any more info drop me an e-mail.

Thanks
Howard.

Upgraded mine to Infinity Kappa 42.5i. from This site much better than the standard pioneer ones, also fitted tweeters on the front shelf.

I carried out a similar install to Powerlord, he gave me loads of idea's and help. My install only has 1 sub behind the drivers seat, and a slightly smaller amp behind the passengers seat, as I wanted to keep the boot as clear as possible, front and rear speakers are Infinity, and I did have to make up some 18mm spacer's to mount the rear speakers on, otherwise they would have fouled on the fuel tank. All very fiddly, and I'm not at all technically aware, but with Powerlords help, got it fitted, and the hassle was well worth it, it sounds excellent.

Guys

I'm not sure if my '01 Tusc has been adulterated but I have 4 speakers in the rear bulkhead - two on the back and two on the sides. Is this normal? I have two shockingly poor Pioneers and two Infinity speakers. I can't quite work out if they are the same size. Any advice???

Lee,

The Pioneer's in the rear sides are the original factory fit's, and it sounds as though someone has retro-fitted the Infinity's in the rear panel. I have disconnected the original Pioneer's in my car, and left them in place, as I haven't managed to source any decent method of blanking them off, and fitted new Infinity's into the rear panel.

had a look, "BRILLIANT" I will definately have a go at something similar. I noticed your scamera detector wires trail over dash top. My geodesy sits in same place but I ran wire down side of 2nd vent, through small hole in dash bottom(comes out to rhs of radio)and staight into rear of radio pod. fiddle drilling the hole in dash bottom thro vent (actual vent pulls out)I had to make a small chuck and drill with fingers as windsreen gets in way. The dash is just big air chamber, (no pipes or wires that i noticed anyway) Thought it might be worth a mention.
Thanks to all for replies, Dave.

Thanks Mr T - Any idea what size the Std Pioneers are? I can't seem to get an accurate measurement with a ruler and I can't make out ony detail on or behind the mesh!

Also, like Mr T I disconnected crappy pioneers, and left them in, so when I fitted smartphone I just added a little amp (old pc speaker amp) behind the driver side one and wired this into the smartphone.

Being about 3 inches from my ear when driving was crap for music, but is great for ozzy ozborn shouting my directions to me from the smartphone! :-)
