Looking to buy a Fanatec wheel and pedals set. Getting confused by their pricing at checkout. It has a 19% ‘vat’ charge at checkout.
Then it looks like I’ll incur a further 20% vat charge when it passes customs.
Anyone else navigated a transaction with them that could clarify this for me?
Thanks

Last I heard they remove the 19% charge, or refund the 19% for UK customers and then you have to pay the 20% vat + handling on import. Would be worth getting in touch with them.

Is there no UK stockists?

Yes they remove the vat when you checkout and then the courier charges you the uk rate when it enters the country.
I recently bought my fanatec stuff from Simtech racing here in the uk. It cost me a little more but was all in stock and came next day and there was no faffing around with customs charges.

Thanks both.
Yeah, think I’ll wait for uk store simtechracing to get their back order delivered.

I ordered from Fanatec this week and am expecting delivery Thursday. I can confirm the VAT at their end was removed.

They have despatched in many packages though with different tracking details. Out of the 9 notifications I have, some of them may slip through or be under the limit for duty adding...

Edit - What have you ordered? I went for the DD2 and inverted pedals, amongst other bits

I’ve not ordered yet. It’s the DD Pro base with McLaren GT 3 wheel…because it’s for my son to use on a PS4 (with a possibility of moving to pc at a later date).

The thing that is stopping me pulling the trigger on the purchase is I’ve read I would need to plug the DD Pro into a pc to download the latest drivers from Fanatec.

Not having a pc, that’d be difficult :-(

Maybe they'd update before shipping for you?

Tax works as others have said - Fanatec remove the 19% VAT, and you are charged 20% + a processing fee (£11.50?) by UPS. Having a credit card that doesn't add a currency conversion charge makes a difference if you're buying a whole Fanatec system.

UPS's system for handling the VAT and fees is quite cumbersome, they send an email that can easily be mistaken for a phishing message, then you call a phone line to pay and are given a payment reference and send that back by email. Or they turn up at the door and can only take cash.

Simtech racing may well update it for you - it’s worth an ask, they are friendly guys.
