I have a deposit on an e-berlingo, due for delivery sometime towards the end of this month. There's a massive waiting list at the moment and the price has gone up since I negotiated the deal. However, I can't get a charging point fitted and the car that I was going to use for the deposit has just eaten the flywheel meaning I've got to stick an extra £1,000 into it before I can sell it, so I'm probably going to have to not go ahead. However, it seems that the deal I've got is now way ahead of anything for a buyer wanting it now. Seems wasteful (and risky) to buy and then sell with zero miles and add an owner on the V5.

Has anyone ever sold a deposit on (not on exotica, just normal cars)? I imagine the dealer would prefer to sell it at the new price though...

Edit: to clarify, not looking to make any profit on it, just hoping to try and recoup the deposit as I assume it would be lost if I just said ‘can’t continue’ to the dealer.

Never done it but I’d imagine the supplying dealer would not allow this, until point of purchase you don’t hold anything to sell.

This will be more emphasised by waiting lists and a price increase.

Probably best to just call them and explain they may be more than happy to return the deposit.

As above reply - but also it’s not really your car anyway to try and flip.
I would just be honest with the dealer and doubt he will mind returning your deposit given the numbers wanting the car as you say.
