Complete build ideas...?

Having got all excited about the idea of building my own kit-car(possibly a Rush or Striker or Indy, not too sure yet), I'm now getting used to the idea that I have neither the space nor the time to do so!

Are there alternatives out there to paying full whack for factory builds, such as purchasing a kit and paying someone else to build it for me? How much would I expect to pay for such a service? Where can I find these Mechanical Magicians?!

Frankly Rich "Time is Money" wherever to go. There are builders out there, But it is gonna cost . Far better IMO to locate a good newish secondhand car, and tweak it to your liking. That way the build costs/labour time are already factored out of the equation, and you get more car for your money

You could get a quote from Plays Kool - they've had experience with all sorts of Westfields, Sylvas and the like. Not sure it'll be cheaper than factory build though.

Damn good advice.

Second hand kit cars usually don't cost anything close to what their builders spent on components, let alone labour time, so you can get a real bargain.

Spend the time you would have waited having a car built to hunt down something closest to your ideal spec., then do any final tweeks yourself once you have bought the car and got used to its foibles.

Thanks guys, some good advice. I guess I always new that second-hand was probably the way forward.... I was just worried that it would never really feel like mine coz I never built it. Stupid really!

When you find a nice car to buy don't go looking for hidden meaning in the fact that it is only 4 months old and has 250 miles on the clock. I would estimate that over 50% of builders are more interested in the build than driving and owning it. You may find he/she already has the next kit on order or well beyond the planning stage.
For this reason there are some real bargins to be had.
