BMW (F30) Connected Drive / iDrive
Discussion
Good afternoon,
I appreciate that there is a wealth of experience on these forums so hope that somebody can advise or might have come across this issue before.
I set off from Devon (to Derbyshire) and the iDrive kept turning on before turning off ten seconds later; rinse/repeat for the five hours. No radio/nav/Bluetooth etc for the whole journey.
I tried the simple stuff, turn engine off/on again. I had tried force reset by holding the power button for twenty seconds but to no avail. I’ve deleted my Bluetooth phone off it too. It still made no difference.
Looking online, some have said that the issue is software but it went to Sytner last month for the EGR recall and it’s had a software update at the same time - some have said that the issue is DAB related and the memory/cache is full; others have said a new head unit is the only option. If I had a Carly or Bimmercode OBD scanner, I would plug it in and see what codes it has thrown up and hope it narrows down the issues.
The DAB suggestions holds the most merit (to me) as I had driven from Newcastle to Devon a day previously with DAB playing for 80% of the journey.
BMW (Stratstone) want £120 to diagnose and £140 p/h to investigate the fault with the closet availability in late Nov.
