My wife has decided she'd like a Macan as the next family car but I'm not up to speed re options for these. Personally I only want pano roof so what else would be considered essential and very nice to have? Not too worried about resale, just what makes it a better car when in use.

Cheers smile

Extended leather makes it feel far more luxurious inside.

The whole door cards will be leather with some stitch rather than cheap looking plastic type material.

Surround view parking makes life a whole lot easier.

And I've found the speed limit reader more valuable than I thought it would be.

For us, the one absolute must have was the panoramic roof, it completely transforms the interior. The surround cameras have been great too! Worth noting that rather than upgrading to full leather, if you pick the more adjustable seats, you get leather included in the cost of the seat. If you think you may ever tow with it, the electrically deployable tow bar is a much cheaper option to fit new than it is to retrofit...

The V6 engine - the S is easily worth the additional 6k over the base car

+1 on the extended leather, you get a textured plastic dash straight out of a Golf otherwise.

The seats are worth upgrading too depending which model you buy, the standard ones aren't very adjustable. I have the 18 ways in my GTS and find them super comfy, but they have a high bolster and for a daily/kid transporter the 14 way would be better as they're much easier to get in and out of (I didn't realise they were completely different shaped seats until my spec had locked).

The dealer will probably tell you sport chrono is essential for resale on either an S or GTS but I'd ignore that if you/your wife don't want it, it adds a steering wheel switch for the driving modes and launch control.

The standard stereo is poor, the Bose not much better, I went Burmeister which is fantastic but very expensive. My other half insisted on 360 cameras, otherwise it's all down to personal taste. Be careful, pretty much everything is an option and they're not cheap. It's easy to get to the wrong side of £10k on options without trying too hard!

There is no such thing as an “essential” option. One person’s essential is another’s not at any cost e.g. bucket seats on GT cars - pain in the ass to get in and out of and no adjustment for rake. Buy what you want/need. Cost of options will not be recovered at sale time though some might make the car more attractive to buyers.

I'd suggest the essential options are air suspension, stereo upgrade (at least Bose) and stick with stock wheel size. All other options just really cater to personal tastes on look & feel. As for model, I'd skip the base 4 cyl and head to S or upwards.

Tow bar not just for towing, personally use for a bike rack , so much easier that putting on the roof.
Sounds like you are doing a factory order. I hope you are not expecting it for the next 6 to 12 months if you are?

You nailed it = pano roof .
The 75 L long range tank makes fill up s less frequent FWIW .

That’s it basically.

If it’s leased or PCP Ed the residual is of no consideration because it’s built into to your “ monthly’s “:
Who cares and why should you about the OPC ability to move it on after you have abused it for the first 3 yrs or whatever .It ain’t your problem, it’s the next owners .

The rest of the Options list is pure BS marketing 8hit…… ok a steady stream of wanna be takers signing up on the dotted line , but that doesn’t in a lemming jumping of a cliff kinda way make it right .
