This is a Facebook marketplace conversation I have just had about a set of Nissan Navara off road wheels and tyres I have for sale. Blokes Facebook profile says he is from Derby but there’s little info apart from a few likes in Nigeria.

Am I correct in thinking this is a scam? How will it work?

Makes up a story about why it's now a money order instead of cash when they collect and some people fall for it, if it works 1 in10 times they're laughing

People scammed like that probably deserve it - person turns up at door to collect item you sold and immediately asks YOU for money.

There is no cash. You'll be asked to pay an 'insurance fee' ahead of time - there is no Fedex courier coming and the scammer now has your card details, name, address etc.

Don't be stupid. Just block, report etc and go enjoy your evening.

Edit: Here's how it'll go: https://www.thatsnonsense.com/the-ups-delivery-fac...

This is definitely a scam, don't play along, don't engage any further, block the other party and simply forget it.

The Facebook stuff won't be his he will have nicked the details and created a new one. The real guy won't even be aware. Happens all the time and it's way to easy. Ask him for phone number and see what happens

Scam - I get these a lot on FB marketplace, it's especially
prevelant if you try and sell electronic kit such as phones. Relatively easy to spot. Either block or if you know what you are doing then have some fun

Agreed, you really don't want these scum turning up at your house, then getting into an argument with them, let them stay in the grimy streets of their homes.

They won't turn up at your house. These scams are all based in Nigeria.

I had this when selling a bike. Asked him for photo ID and I was immediately blocked. How stupid do they think folks are?
