Hey there,

I'm looking into options for fitting a hardtop to my 2001 elise (the one with the full length soft top). Thre problem is that i would have to replace the roll bar cover as well as get a completely new soft top since the new roofs are smaller.

I've been looking at the aftermarket gullwing roof (http://www.productionglassfibre.co.uk/) which looks quite cool but my question is does anyone have one of these fitted and are they any good?

Cheers

Andy

Andy, a mate of mine from Kent Lotus has one of these and it's excellent. He's actually selling his car (silver) and is selling his seperately. It's in mint condition so if you're interested let me know and I'll pass on his info to you.

Ahh nice one, have you seen the gullwing yourself? How would you rate it in terms of quality, does it leak rattle etc? I'd be interested in finding out how much your mate was selling it for.

I think production fibreglass do a NON gull wing one for the early s2 - I hope they do anyway! - I want a hardtop (aim to buy it in the autumn, but don't want the gull roof bit - I'll give them a shout sometime!

The Gullwing one costs £1700 for the roof, and £200 for painting. Plus £50 if you want soft panels inside. seems a bit steep to me but not sure what the other option of getting a whole new S2 style roof and softop is.

Saw it at Donington. Looked pretty cool, if expensive.

I think if like me you've got an early S2 with the long tail roof the Lotus option is about £1,900. That gets you a new roll bar cover fitted and painted, a new painted hard top and a new soft top of whatever colour you like. Not a cheap option!

£1900 you say? Hmm not cheap! Still, not as expensive as I might have imagined...

... I have a vivid imagination.

If you could post a number or website for the company I'd be most grateful. I've got an early S2 and also have a mate with a bodyshop who would paint it for beer money so £800 is do able!

800 quid eh?

Is that a proper S2 looking roof or just the one off the S1 made to fit and S2?
