There I was, looking forward to a nice day at Alford where there's a meet going on today and just as I pull out of Westhill and theres a horrendous mechanical squeek coming from the engine. So, pulled over and had a look, couldn't see anything. Called the AA and the guy turns up about 15 mins later. He points out that the shaft that holds the pulley that drives the air con belt seems to have worked its way out of the block/ bearing and what I can hear is the metal on metal of the block against the shaft. The same belt shreaded itself last week but I was near HHC (luckily) and they put a new one on. It probably shreaded itself as the two pulleys slowly worked their way out of line.

Another problem is that the speedo has stopped working so I'm assuming this shaft somehow drives the speedo sender.

Now, I've limped to my office in Westhill (as the noise above 1000 rpm is heartbreaking so I'm not chancing driving home) and I'm trying to contact HHC who are at Alford for some advice/ help.

So, has anyone got the mobile number for Tony at HHC (whos at Alford)? Also, does anyone know anything about this shaft?

Any help would be appreciated.

Jane passed on the message - and your number - to Tony, so you should hear back.

Thanks Richard - please pass my thanks on to Jane as well as Tony did indeed ring me. Unfortunately he agreed with the AA and the faults going to render my car undriveable so I'm now looking into getting it transported to Newcastle!

Your Sag looked ace though, what I saw of it...
