Recently got a new car ( 2017 with barely 20,000 miles on the clock )
Tyres are " Dunlop Sport Max TT " if I am correct.

I noticed all four tyres have cracks around them. Did some reading and apparently it's normal for these specific tyres to crack ( most likely from not being used much )
Tread is even all round at 5MM

They are dated to 2016 so about 6 years.

Would you advise changing ASAP or not ? MOT was done last week and had no advisories whatsoever.
No bulging, no ply cords etc

No big deal. I'd continue using them until they were worn out.

Of the literally dozens of tyre cracking threads on here...that has to be about the least cracking of them all lol.

2 options

1. Keep using until they have worn out

2. Replace now.

I would go with option 1

I did a thread almost a year ago on cracking tyres, a "used approved" car bought from a main dealer. 2017 car done 14k

Opinions were that they weren't likely to fail anytime soon, but should have been changed according to the dealers "rigorous checks"

After some pushing the dealer agreed they should have been changed upon sale.

Yours are no where near as bad, so should be ok.

They're perfectly fine. That fine surface damage is normal for a used tyre. Don't waste another second worrying about them.

6 years is old for a tyre. It’s at the end of its life based on age. Some manufacturers state 6 years is the maximum safe tyre lifespan. Given the cracks I would agree in the case of your tyres.

The tyres are fked

Have they seen plenty of sun?

Am sick of spending on tyres due to them being perished by the sun

Don't get me wrong though, if you drive very slowly on them you won't die when the worst one falls to bits

Never ever think that an MOT means you're good to go

As said, if you do some reading into dunlop sport maxx TTs it seems very common

Car has done barely 20,000 miles which could explain it

There you go then, no tyre manufacturer would knowingly market st like that, reputation is everything and word travels fast

How about contacting Dunlop? bks to what people post to the internet

What ?

virtually every tyre cracks these days

There's barely a week goes by here where people start threads asking about cracked tryes

Tyres from new fitted to my car only perish if exposed to the sun for long periods of time

Tyres from new fitted to my car that aren't exposed to the sun for long periods of time don't perish and have no cracks, put it this way, haven't noticed any and do look often enough

The above tyres are worked fairly hard due to cornering at speeds of up to 140 Klicks

Why don't my cars tyres crack?

What I will do is take a very close look around the tyres later today and post back, if cracks are seen you will know about it

Yet.

No doubt there will be environmental considerations too, but cracked tyres are very commonplace. Have been easily for last decade or so

Just bought a 2015 car with the original tyres on it as it had done 6800miles from new, the tyres were dated wk23 2015, the cracks had been noted on the mot and didn't look that bad to be fair but I budgeted to replace the lot. Even the tyre chaps said they looked ok but once off the car and properly inspected they were shot, so ignoring those pics you should give the tyres a thorough check over but when it comes to tyres I don't like to take unnecessary risks

Checked front and rear RH side tyres that have done nearly 26000 Klicks. no cracks, checked another vehicle parked nearby and its tyres showed no cracks

Are there any tyre experts here?

Could it be that a warmer climate is making a massive difference

Tyre manufacturers will have climate problems covered

None of this makes any sense to me

British car manufacturers don't mention in their vehicle hand-books that cracked tyres are to be expected and are not a problem

Am bamboozled now

There is no fking way that sane people will drive a car at good speed with cracked tyres

LOFL

Car manufacturers also don't say their cars are unreliable pieces of st, will cost a fortune to repair, will not do the mpg they claim....the list goes on. But all of those things happen too.

Agreed

Getting back to why my cars tyres aren't cracked. Why?

Because some tyres are more prone to cracking than others ?
