I wonder if anyone can shed light on this please. I've owned a 540i xDrive (2017) for the past 18 months, bought from a main dealer. I've noticed for a good while now that whenever I apply the brakes from a reasonable speed, there is significant vibration through the steering wheel and indeed through the whole front portion of the interior. It's really quite severe. I just can't believe it's normal. I mentioned it to my local BMW main dealer when the car was in for a service 2 months ago and they said they'd check, but reported nothing. I'm inclined to conclude they forgot! Subsequently, I had two new tyres fitted (not at a BMW dealer) and mentioned it to them. They said the wheels/tracking probably needed aligning and said they'd do that job, too. And charged me accordingly. But it's no better. Any thoughts gratefully received, thank you.

I'd have thought brake discs would be the most likely suspect - or is that so obvious that they've already been changed ?
