Twin cooling fans on early Griff.

I am looking to fit an additional cooling fan to my precat.
Does anybody know the exact conductor size feeding the fan, and its rating ?

Merlin motorsport sell the sames fans , so I was looking at moving the existing one over and doubling up.

Mine's got twin fans but when I got the car they were just wired to the original loom. I'm guessing this is the case with most 'upgraded' cars. I rewired them so that each is fed by its own relay and fuse, using 28/0.30mm, 2mm square, 17.5 amp cable for each, direct from the alternator. I've got a spare fan (SPAL) if you want one cheap. Mail me if you're interested.

I imagine it may possible be 28/03 and rated at 17.5 amps but not 100% sure

Not used to automotive cable sizes, just industrial/domestic.
Is 28/0.3 , 28 strands of 0.3 diameter????

Oh Yes

The orignal fan is 130 watt.
So 2 x 130watt @ 13 v should draw about 20amps

Hmmm slightly over the cable rating.

You'd have to add a new seperate feed.
I guess Grifters way is easier than running all the way back to the fuse panel.

Pacet do a single fan that sucks nearly twice as much air as the single origial, but only draws 12.3 A

But you still wouldnt be pulling air through the whole area of the Rad.I'd go with running the extra wire/relay/fuse.

Its the starting current thats the problem,hence some of the early twin fans where allways popping the one fuse they where on.
