Hi all

my current vehicle, a Volvo has the Polestar upgrade, dealer fitted. I bought the car last December and the insurance was a bit fruity to say the least. For the Polestar upgrade I was loaded by around £200 (cant recall the exact cost. However, talking to others with a similar car and the same upgrade, it seems as if they have been loaded by very little for Polestar. The problem comes when you fill in the online quote form and declare an upgrade as there really doesnt seem to be much the fits Polestar. If I pick Blueprint, the loading is quite small, chip makes a huge jump and general engine mods sends it through the roof.

As I talk now to insurance companies, very few seem to have even the basic grasp of what Polestar is and does. For example it makes virtually no difference to the bhp, or acceleration figures. Its more about throttle response and tweaking gear and drivetrain changes.

So my question is, how do you describe Polestar, in a competely honest fashion to somebody that doesnt have a clue, and what sub category does it really fit in.

I renewed mine last month using "Confused.com" and there was an option for "remap 0-10bhp".
If I toggled this on and off it seemed to add £30-40.

Thanks for that, I have just spoken to Direct Line, they say that it doesnt need to be declared as its a Factory option. Volvo own insurance loaded it by 250, Admiral, my current loaded by 200. LVE comes out cheapest for me without the upgrade, so Im going to look there and discuss Polestar direct with them. For the record, DL see it as a software update.

It is a software "remap" and should be treated as one.

Not sure what car you have, but its not just a "throttle refinement" on our Volvo for example (XC90 D5) it makes 25hp more than stock.

Just had a look 8%hp peak and 8%nm torque upgrade so just declare it as a remap or chip 0-10%

My 2021 V60 won't take the Polestar map.
I've checked online and at a dealers and for whatever reason the system says no.

Yeh they don't offer Polestar for 2019+ V60.
