Tyres - 40,000 miles +

No particular reason for posting this other than I have had a little to drink and am bored.

Decided today that it would probably be a good idea to swap the tyres from the front to the rear on the wedge. Why you might ask.

Well, I bought the car in September 1994 with approx 29,000 on the clock, it is currently around 71,000 and the tyres on the front are still the same two that were there when I bought the car :yikes:.

Figured by putting them on the rear I would wear them out before they fall apart.

Bridgstone RE71s by the way.

Ones I had fitted in Jan are nearly due up for replacement.......

My RE71's wore out out on the rear while I still have 5mm of tread on the Bridgestone SO2PP's on the front... Fitted some Kleber rears now.

I have Re71's on the front and like you they just don't seem to wear (unlike the rears)

I just keep slapping on the meguars(sp?) tire dressing and they always look new

My 1989 tyres (RE71's) are still going well!!!

Mind you they're a bit hard now. I think I need to 'gun metal' the throttle a bit and wear them out, so I can get some fresh rubber.

I usually swap the tyres from front to back, and put the best rubber on the front.
