Fake/forced laughter on TV shows
Discussion
Has this been getting progressively worse? Or have I just started noticing it more? Or maybe since WFH life I've just had the TV on in the background so been exposed to it more than before.
So many shows these days seem to be filled with everyone involved acting like they're about to die from laughter at pretty much everything anyone else on that show says. Panel shows, chat shows, shows like This Morning.......is it just to make it look like everyone is having a good time all the time?
This Morning I find especially intriguing, as the presenters will go from hosting a phone in about something really serious and will have their solemn, sympathetic voices/faces on, then one minute later pretending to nearly fall off their chair as one of their chefs cracks a lame joke.
I'll probably be told to turn the TV off. And you're probably right.

Seems to be clumsily blatant these days, as does the insincere and scripted "adlib" comedy panel shows, with offenders like The Last Leg being amongst the worst offenders.
Whilst I like the show and the presenters, the call-and-response set ups for their pre-prepared gags is very obvious. Give them credit for being a live show at least, I guess.
Having been to some filming of TV shows, I've seen the support act arm waver who they put off camera as an instruction on when to applaud, and even when to laugh on some shows .... a joke loses it's edge by the time they stop and re-take the skit a handful of times.

When wfh it's not cool to have the tv on in the background, imo.
If i were managing you hearing a tv in the background would raise some flags !
Re canned laugher - it seems that asian tik-tok videos have taken canned laugher biblical. So much so that i won't continue watching if i hear it.

Don't worry, I'd just point to the revenue I've brought in over the last 2 years, I'm sure you'd calm down If i were managing you hearing a tv in the background would raise some flags !

I go to a room with no TV for meetings/calls anyway
