I've recieved a parking fine from a private company.
Royal Victoria Dock, 1 Wester Gateway.
Although this might be wrong is it actually illegal if there is no notice?

Is that in London?
If so, I think it's illegal to park on a pavement full stop.
And AIUI, things like yellow lines apply to the whole width of the 'highway' unless there's a marked space?

So unless the pavement is private land...
Was the van 'parked' or actively 'loading'?

My understanding is that double reds also prohibit loading, unless the signs say otherwise, i.e. the reds are "No Stopping" rather than "No Parking".

And yes as above, parking restrictions generally also apply to the paths, verges etc. alongside the road.

Private company you say.....

I'd be doing nothing and checking any paperwork sent to make sure that its in compliance with legislation, a good slug is not.

Surely parking on double reds or the pavement would be enforced by the council (London Borough of Newham I think?), not a private parking firm?

If so then surely double reds mean nothing?

ETA: EX16 1XL is the postcode for the whole of the Excel, which as you know is massive.

No, you appeal it. As the poster above says, use the guidance on moneysavingexpert or pepipoo.

Was the ticket on the windscreen or sent to you as registered keeper?

Exactly. It's also a good one for the bad parking thread.
