2008 BMW 318D SE Touring Boot won't Open

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has encountered problems with older BMW's where the central locking works on all 4 doors but the boot won't open.
I heard a theory about the valet parking button but not sure that's right, potentially something I've done with messing with the controls for the ecu- is there an easy fix to this or does anyone have any suggestions?

Could be a number of things including switches and the wiring loom going into the boot. Does the top half of the boot open? If you have diagnostic gear (preferably INPA/ISTA) you can read the status of sensors and directly activate the boot release, which allows you to determine whether the switch within the handle is working properly.
