Amazon lockers and returning parcels
Discussion
We've come on leaps and bounds over recent years when it comes to returning stuff we've bought. We've gone from having to pay to post stuff back ourselves at the post Office, to using an app and simply dropping off at a shop or locker for free returns. Makes the process really easy.
However, I'm returning a largish parcel and decided to choose a locker drop off for convenience, but every locker I visit says their large lockers are full. Just wish there was a way of being able to find where empty lockers are. I realise they could get taken before you get there, but to know that say 5 large lockers 1/2 a mile away are fee would be useful. If they could do that then the system would be perfect.

When you arrange the return via Amazons website or app it’s supposed to only show you available lockers of the size required and reserves a one of the desired size for you at a given location
I didn't realise that with Amazon, but the parcel I'm retuning was delivered by Evri so it can be dropped off at one of their lockers. The whole locker idea is really good, and saves getting that dreaded 'missed you' card through the door where you have to queue at the Royal Mail depot early mornings to claim it.Edited by LeadFarmer on Wednesday 19th October 19:15

For the return part you’d think they would have a locker with a trap door into a big bin, so numerous people can deposit without taking a specific locker

I’m always amazed that they don’t have a vending machine style giant locker, you type in your code and it appears
We'd all be rocking it trying to get something else out
I normally buy stuff one at a time from Amazon, so the van drivers get paid for the deliveries, but they offered me a £7 discount f I d a pickup had to spend £30 I think it was.
Ordered 4 items to be picked up at a local locker, I could do that with three of theitem but the forth item a 9V battery for my smoke alarm a lockers was not available?

Lockers are only available for FBA items. Other vendors have to post.Ordered 4 items to be picked up at a local locker, I could do that with three of theitem but the forth item a 9V battery for my smoke alarm a lockers was not available?

They've had around 50 years to perfect normal food snack vending machines with mostly predictable shapes and still it's a 50-50 whether your item actually arrives or gets stuck somewhere. Totally unpredictable shapes and sizes of Amazon parcels would be a nightmare for them and be more hassle than they're worth. The locker system generally works well but they need more of them, or Amazon needs to stop putting Micro SD cards in a box that's bigger than your house, then they could add many more small size lockers for small packages.
