Anyone ordered/received the MG4?

Went for a test drive in one yesterday and was impressed with the kit you get in the Trophy trim and the price. The dealership I went to seemed to suggest the things are flying off the shelf and showed me his order book. Took it as mild sales patter but I do reckon MG will get a decent chunk of the EV market with this car.

All the online reviews seem pretty positive. Has anyone ordered one or received theirs yet? What are your thoughts on the car please? Did you manage to negotiate a discount? The dealership offered me £100 off the list price(!)

I just saw the car wow you tube review but given the price point I can see why they sell.
What is the trophy over the SE though ?
I know SE has no sat nav but has android auto and apple car play to use waze or g maps

Does it allow pre heating/ cooling too ?

I have a feeling these will become a very common sight on the roads. There are already tons of MG ZS EVs and HS hybrids kicking about, not to mention all the MG5s.

Yep, took a test drive slapped down a £99 deposit for a Trophy due next Feb. Then read all the issues on the forums and got cold feet and cancelled.

Think I'll stick to my usual policy of not going for the first version of a new model and let some others help iron out all of the issues first. The one I test drove was ace and much nicer than I was expecting for the price though.

Interesting reading about the oil leaks - thank you. We wouldn't want the car until March next year and the dealership said they would just order the car in Dec before the inevitable price rise in Jan. Pretty sure now the issue has been highlighted it'll mean cars coming out of the factory within the next week or two will be fine. The car is under warranty so I wouldn't be worried personally.

Trophy spec gets a lot more - blind spot detection, better LEDs, centre brake lights, rear privacy glass, electric folding mirrors, heated steering wheel/seats, half-leather seats, electric adjustable driver seat, 360 camera, wireless phone charging, two tone roof, nicer spoiler, etc. Think it's worth the upgrade.

Going to place an order today. Just need to decide on the colour now.

Same here, test drive (didnt put a deposit as I was waiting some finance negotiation). Saw those report and cold feet. No matter what, I hope MG4 will bring a shockwave through all those EV manufacturer, and I hope this will initiate sensible priced EV, and hope more family size (segment C) EV with lower price will come

Totally agree, VW are asking so much more money for an equivalent ID3 and it’s really not even as good. They need to clean up their act a bit.

Having said that the salesman did say MG are using the old Korean tactic of underpricing to get known before they expect with future models pricing may be on a parity or just below what’s on offer from the established manufacturers.

They still have issues with the ZS EV, I know some folks are still waiting for theirs almost a year later while newer customers got theirs first. I guess they haven’t nailed the logistics of shipping from China just yet.

I've not been all that impressed with MG's line-up this far in the wake of its 2005 collapse and purchase by SAIC (I owned an MG ZR at the time of the collapse, only 6 months old at that point). I see the general appeal though - a somewhat decent badge, cheap prices, great warranty. Like the old Daewoo, but a better badge on the bonnet.

The MG4 could change that though. These legitimately look like great cars, are reviewing well, are priced extremely competitively, and if I was looking for my first step into the EV world, it would be right up there on my shopping list.

Not read much about the problems to be honest, but with that 7 year warranty, I reckon I'd have sufficient peace of mind to proceed if I'd had a test drive and enjoyed it.

I know MG divides opinion on here because of its history and Chinese ownership, which i can totally understand. If you ignore that for a second and look at the next gen cars and what they sell in other parts of the world, I can only see them becoming a pretty big player. Other than the new MG4, the UK models are starting to show their age a little. Some of their cars look genuinely good compared to their rivals, both on styling and their spec sheets. The upcoming MGC (Cyberstar) sports car could be a bit of a game changer. The concept is a bit OTT but the renders look good.

Yeah 10 years ago or whatever no one would buy a Kia or Hyundai. As better models came there are everywhere.
Guess it helps a lot of folk don’t care about cars. Drove a 96 Accent back in the day with no power steering and was crap. Wife got given a Kia Sportage SUV from the Volvo dealer as a courtesy car and said it was awful.

I think a lot of European brands were caught napping with regards to the Koreans, quite a few of the Japanese brands have really suffered at the hand of Kia and Hyunda. Both of those brands have cars that are genuinely desirable to a lot of buyers and aren't bought because they are just cheap. I've even heard a couple of the Kia models be referred to as cool. I'd imagine MG might be causing a few brands dome sleepless nights.
