Alarm woes

Help guys...

After Al Melling's excellent lecture yesterday the alarm in the Cerb' decided it would throw a wobbly, firstly I'd like to say thanks to the fellow TVR owners all around me, not one of which offered any help! I was somewhat surprised about that. :(

But, on a more serious note, does anyone on here have any ideas as to my problem. The remore fob has no effect whatsoever, the override key allows me to disarm the immobiliser, but won't stop the alarm. I think one of the tell tale things might be that the interior light now stays on and the central locking light is illuminated. The problem is, I can drive the car but the alarm whails the moment I get in or out of the car!

I know that there's a Meta alarm specialist in Petersfield, but I could do with a solution ASAP really, does anyone know where the control box is situated, would unplugging and letting that reset cure any problems?

Any help and advise appreciated.

Had not too disimilar problem myself a while back...
I ended up unplugging and reconnecting all the black box thingy's on top of the petrol tank, one by one, and this cured it....dont know what I did, but it worked!....I think it had something to do with the interior light bit, and I guess the alarm thought that the door wasnt shut cos this light was still on...it may well have been complete coinsidence, but it did the trick for me....

Just tried unplugging all the boxes on top of the tank and unplugging the main Meta Control box, to no avail

Is there meant to be a purple fly lead unattached in the alarm loom? If it's an ariel it's pretty short.

Mine had a duff battery inside the alarm siren itself,

Mine was cured by reaching up under the wheel arch & cutting the wire.

Must get it replaced at some time

I'm now beginning to think that this might be a combination of things.

Firstly, the interior light now stays on, any suggestions as to how to sort? Other than the obvious - flick the rocker switch! As it's staying on I assume that the door pins (magnets) are returning an open circuit.

Second, having just eliminated the batteries in the fob, the fob fails to disarm the car, the red LED on the dash continues to flash, the only way to disarm the immobiliser is to use the override key.

Any more suggestions peeple? PLEASE HELP!

Sounds like your fob is knackered and will need replacing (a result of TVR's fob design). If you speak to Carl as suggested (07720723407) he will be able to provide replacement fobs without replacing the entire alarm system. If you can get to him rather than calling him out, his labour rates are significantly cheaper.
