Hello,

We're heading to York this morning. What's the best public parking / ring go for the Minster and the Shambles?

Thank you!

The last few times I've driven in I've used the park and ride which was excellent. There's a few locations depending where you're coming from, although the Harrogate road one that's most useful to me isnt currently operating.

We normally head for Nunnery Lane car park just by the city wall. Then it’s a short walk into the centre.

There is a car park literally 100 yards from the entrance to the shambles (on Stonebow) but it’s expensive.

As above, I’d use one of the Park and Rides if possible.

Thank you everyone for your replies. We're heading in from the south (Louth) via the A19.

Which park and ride is best for the South side?

mcaurthur glen is a nice shopping center with park and ride (lots of safe spaces to choose if fussy), we park there and then go around the shops before heading home

Askham Bar.

A19 to York, then turn left onto the A64, off at the next junction and follow the signs. You can get off the bus in a couple of places but I always chose right next to Cliffords Tower.

As the weather was grey and cool we decided on Nunnery Lane.

I'm a southerner, therefore I'm too precious to stand around, waiting for a municipal bus. yes
