I was just flicking between channels when I came upon Status Quo playing live, having watched it for a while they seem to be enjoying themselves and good at what they do.
Over the years there seems to be some people who have been critical of their playing.
Now In my advanced years I’m I trying to learn guitar and was thinking that I would be more than happy to be able to play as well as them, so was the criticism just from people who found them un cool or what ever you want to call it.

A bit like AC/DC, sounds easy, and superficially is, but very hard to get right.

I see what you did there

I suspect because they didn't and don't go in for guitar acrobatics, their ethos is very much like Cliff Williams the bass player for AC/DC, they play what fits the song.
There has always been someone far more popular as the years have gone by but they keep on playing to their strengths. I stopped listening to them donkeys years back, after they "retired" and did a big tour, then carried on anyway.
But i can't deny that they have been very successful at what they do

I had a good friend and neighbour who was a senior sound engineer and trainer/instructor at the BBC. He was part of the team that did the sound engineering at the Live Aid concert at Wembley

He once told me that before the show started they were all bricking it, and many thought they could not bring it off without a debacle of some kind occurring. When Status Quo bounced out on stage and roared into their first number (Rocking All Over The World, appropriately) there was a collective sigh of relief in the control room and everybody sat back in their seats. It sounded great and confidence soared.

And at the end of their brief set, the Quo ran off the stage, everybody looked at the clock, and they were dead on time for their allotted span, almost to the second. Just about the only act who managed that.

Discuss the music amongst yourselves, but those guys are consummate professionals.

Recently read Rossi & Parfitt's autobiography XS All Areas, well worth a look, I'm not a big reader but I did it in 3 days.

First heard (I think) when a school mate had '12 Gold Bars' and got hooked. At some point after I managed to get the compilation 'From The Makers Of' and then 'Live from the NEC' / 'Back to Back', and then got as many as the back catalogue albums as I could, when teenage funds allowed AND when I actually managed to find an album (cassette) in a record store.

Loved the Frantic Four reunion.

Just watched this as it 'appens

Cheers for that, one of the tightest rock bands, sheer class.

Best gig I ever went to was the frantic four reunion at Wembley. Relived my teenage years.

They are so tight as a unit.

Ma Kelly's Greasy Spoon Tour 1970/71, I was 13 at the time, 2 years later I was a mad Quo fan.

I was there, up at the front, brilliant gig.

I also think their guitar work is quite underrated.
