Lovely looking 997 gt3, very low milage(under 10k miles), comfort spec, however cat D when 6 months old.

How do you value something like that? Same owner since he bought it damaged at 6 months old. Normally circa 20-25% off a car without a marker?

Lots of variables here, main red flag for me is that a right off usually happens at 60% of the cars value, which at 6 months old will have been a huge sum so the damage must have been substantial..

Does it have a full picture book showing the damage and the repair as well as all the invoice documentation?

Without that I personally wouldn't pay 65% of a clean ones value. With a that inthing its still down 25%

As above thats a big knock. If you can get photos of the write off you will know what to inspect to see if it’s been repaired properly.

Quite a few insurance companies will replace ‘with new’ if a new car suffers significant damage during the first 12 months.
It may well have been easily repairable for less than 25% of value, but the insured may have wanted a new replacement.
However, the stigma of Cat D will live with the car forever, even if it had been repaired by Porsche and impeccably maintained for the rest of its life.

If you know the registration number it would be worth searching the GT3 avoidance thread on PH.

Ditto googling the reg number might throw something up.

If it was a cat C, I'd agree, however cat D, its more incase they can't see any issues, not glaring chassis bending ones that make it a C?
