I think that might depend on where the previous nominations for Johnson go.

Mordaunt might well benefit more than Sunak does, and I'm guessing the MPs who were previously favouring Johnson might prefer Penny Mordaunt to Sunak.

There is still much to play for with time for Mordaunt to bolster her rather lacklustre support to date.

None of them are any good.

Rishi policies are anti business and growth. It’s live turkeys voting for Christmas. Not a fan but I guess with Truss catastrophe any conservativism policy would be toxic in this moment in time.

Stagnation will probably be the norm for the next decade, that would be the least worse outcome. Can’t see the economy grow with Sunak or Labour afterwards.

Is he the best person for the job? He went out for the cameras Saturday in a shirt and jumper, then to show him kicking back later he was just in a shirt with the sleeves rolled up, bit cringe and do we really want to see someone leading the country so out of touch?

I don't really want a bloke that thinks taking his jumper off is getting down to the common man, this guy is about as far removed from you or I as anyone can be.

Lets get Mordaunt in.

Unfortunately I find it hard to disagree with any of this. We’ve got some hard times coming.

I'd rather have calm, competent and sensible, I don't care how much he is worth, in fact, his financial security surely makes him less vulnerable to the kind of financial shenanigans Boris was embroiled in. Rishi was my original choice and I hope he puts a shift in and gets everything on an even keel.

I think Rishi is probably more of a “one nation Conservative” so more likely to win in 2024
