Asking for a friend, they have had their personal info stolen, its being resolved using Experian apparently.

But they also appear to have had their Ltd Co ID stolen as well, as a new bank has written to them saying a payment they tried to make has not been made.

Can anyone offer any advice on what to do with things like this? Is there a way of checking recent credit activity for a business similar to Experian etc?

If he’s got business insurance that kind of cover is usually included. Well worth a call to them first.

A proper bank would require to see the company incorporation certificate before opening an account. How would that be possible?

You can just download a copy from the Companies House website.

Ridiculous isn't it? I thought it had to go to the company address. Instead, anybody can order the certificate for £15 and have it delivered anywhere they want. Delivery address should be restricted to the company registered address, a simple requirement which would reduce these kinds of fraud.

Problem also is that the registration certificate only shows the company name and address at the time of incorporation, both of which could have changed.

Edit: you could probably also download the free PDF and send it to them and they'd be none the wiser. The days of it being stamped with the company seal are over.
