Seen a few videos on my instagram of modified X7 M50i’s and E46 330ci’s cutting through traffic, never heard of this game and it has some unsual cars on there which interests me

Anybody have any experience with it?

Google says it’s playable on PS5 but there’s not anymore information on it other than that

It is good, excellent tyre model and very good physics model, it's one of the best sims in terms of on / over the limit handling.

It's an old game, so graphically you may be disappointed, but it can look very good.

All the interesting stuff you've seen will be mods and thus PC only. If you only have a console, don't even vaguely consider it.

There are enormous amounts of mod cars and tracks, naturally not a huge amount of them are what you'd call 'quality', but there are some exceptional ones. RaceDepartment has a good sub section for AC mods that'd be an excellent place to start. Some of them are paid mods, Race Sim Studio produce very high quality cars, there's a great Need for Speed (the PC original) car pack that's excellent, there's a DRM mod that's a great set of cars to race together.

You'll want SOL and Content Manager which I think makes installing the Custom Shaders Patch easy, both mods that transform the game, Content Manager is a compeltely new interface for the game that's far better than the standard one and includes an enormous amount of features.

In a word, yes

If for nothing else, the continuous new mods being developed. The UI of the game itself is awful so please make sure you install Content Manager and get CSP / Pure to make the graphics better. With the right PPFilter the game can match most modern games in terms of graphics

There is probably a mod for any car and track you can think of. There are free roam maps as well if you so wish - someone has mapped most of Tokyo and the LA Canyons, Pacific Highway etc

[Edit: The above is only applicable to the PC version]

I’ve had it for years on PS4 and still enjoy it, it doesn’t work on my PS5 though for some reason.

Absolutely this. SOL and content manager completely transform the experience and the mod community is superb. Check out racedepartment for track & car mods, almost all of them are free.
