Aldi on channel 4
Discussion
Anybody watching this? Very interesting watching companies trying to win a contract from Aldi
Aldi buyer has a big responsibility, seems very switched on to Aldi requirements.
Good advert for Aldi showing how they source new products, makes you want to look for them in the shop
Have to say that it is fine winning a year contract but what happens at end of contract?
We regularly bought mad dog hot dogs two years ago because they were very good but hey ho the next year not available. This is typical of Aldi something you buy once, enjoy and go back to buy is no longer available, frustrating.
If you create a business first year supplying Aldi and you do not get repeat orders where does that leave the company and the employees ?

Shafted basically if you've not got other avenues, it's a TV show so a bit made up, I supply all the large grocers with about £80 million worth of goods a year, some of it is under contract but for most it's not, you're just incumbent supplier and need to hold that position. (when say I, I mean I'm employed as the manager of that division it's not my company) Aldi buyer has a big responsibility, seems very switched on to Aldi requirements.

Very competitive and your service level is the main thing.

Do you sleep at night knowing you could lose contracts and have to pay employees off?
As you say very competitive,
I work for a large FTSE100 business we're not beholden to them, it's not as dramatic as they show, plus business is business whatever the sector most open everyday without any contracts so having one is a bonus, I sleep fine.As you say very competitive,
Don't get drawn in by a TV show showing mom and pop businesses winning a prize.

If you liked the idea of the chip shop curry pies from last week, the company does mail order as well as attending Hampshire Farmers' Markets.

I actually bought those yesterday and we ate them last night while watching the second one... really nice with a mild curry flavour!https://mudfoods.com/
As above, we do a top-up shop weekly at Aldi and like it, it's a good show too but I can't help feeling like most of the stuff featured would be better placed in Waitrose or M&S.
I'm not saying you can't buy quality food in Aldi but they will always try and keep the prices low and high volumes will also have an effect on quality as we saw last night.

After last night's episode, looking forward to sampling that cake this weekend with a cuppa.
