Haggis pie…
Anyone else make it? It’s really nothing, and something I knocked up for a laugh as someone was running late. Since then, friends and family keep asking for it. Large rectangular oven dish, layer of haggis on the bottom, layer of mushy peas, then a decent mash topping, browned off ( ala cottage pie) in the oven and served with onion gravy.
That is all. Thankyou and goodnight.

I use left over haggis and spare potatoes to make what I call a Haggis Herder's Pie (i.e. shepherds pie using haggis rather than mince). I use a chicken stock for liquid (as beef will be too strong and commercial lamb stocks seem to contain mint) - I've from the school of the scotch is drunk along side, not poured over.

That’s a great name for it.dapprman said:

What is that?Haggis neeps and tatties layered up is perfectly acceptable in a dish.
Neeps on base haggis in middle and mash potato on top.
You can add scottish yellow cheddar on top as well if you like.
Haggis lasagne works very well. Make lasagne as normal just substitue haggis for the beef mince.

I do like the sound of that, although can never think of a time I’ve eaten haggis & peas together before.
Around us the next town over tends to serve gravy or mince alongside haggis which is quite nice, I’m thinking a hybrid shepherd/headers pie sounds tasty!
On the alternative uses, leftover haggis works very well as a pizza topping covered in cheese. Or just reheated for breakfast with fried eggs

Haggis with mushy peas? My initial thoughts were, straight red & five match ban, but on VAR review it might actually work.
Haggis burritos are incredible.
Yes to the haggis, neeps and tattie pie - especially with the neeps as the bottom layer. That's the sort of attention to detail that matters.
