I have absolutely no idea what to make of him. He seems to have a vast number of detractors but equally he wants to put people on Mars, and that would be just incredible.

That could explain why he remains permanently focussed on things, sleeping in the office etc and expecting his staff to do the same

His work ethic is unreal and his shear focus to succeed is unrivaled, but that puts everyone else under the same pressure, look at what it did to the guys working for Tesla trying to hit the numbers.
