Company Car Choice
Discussion
Hi All,
Would appreciate some feedback on the below
After having a Tiguan on order for 12 months with no expected build date, my company have given me the option of cancelling the order and ordering a different car (no cash option or alternative to the below)
Below are the options
Tiguan 2.0Tdi R-Line DSG
Current car on order
£470/Month BIK (including upgrade cost)
Pros- Looks nice, diesel engine is punchy enough / adaptive cruise control
Cons - Expensive on BIK, poor ride quality, questionable image, dated interior design
BMW 2 series gran coupe M Sport Pro 218i
£110 cheaper per month than the Tiguan
Pros - Looks good in the right colour with the pro pack
Cons - 3 cylinder engine, no adaptive cruise, still pretty expensive
Skoda Octavia 1.0 petrol / 2.0d Diesel SE Tech
Nearly £200/month cheaper than the Tiguan
Pros - it's cheap
Cons - Poor engine choices, spec is rubbish at SE Tech level, miserable vehicle (Had a Superb before but now out of budget)
Current car is a 2019 VW Arteon 1.5 so I'm used to slow cars
No idea which way to turn. For reference, my annual mileage has dropped from 35k PA to around 15k.
I would have a Skoda again but it's the poor spec levels that are killing me, not the badge at all - My old Superb was the best car I've ever owned.

Having thought about it overnight, edging towards keeping my Tiguan order alive. There's just too many compromises with the 2 series and Octavia but I'll see what our fleet manager says today.
Hell of a saving with the Octavia though..
My friend had a Tiguan an order for the last year, and VW could still not give him a idea on when it would be ready. Luckily he previously had an Audi A6 and they found him a Q5 from a cancelled order. Hell of a saving with the Octavia though..
If you can get another car I would. Defo look for a hybrid version for the tax saving

Not having an EV/proper hybrid choice is unusual TBH.
