Back in a B58 (M140i)
Discussion
After selling my 2019 m140 shadow edition in August 21 i had a brief spell with a Mercedes e320 cdi and 7 months with a MK5 R32 DSG (Loved every minute and would like another one to keep at some point in the future).
I really missed the performance and excitement so a quick AT search and the following popped up.
2017 m140i in Valencia Orange with Oyster/Black Leather
3 door
ZF Auto
Adaptive Suspension
High Gloss Black interior trim
Heated seats
Harmon Kardon
Pro Nav
Driver Comfort Pack
Front and Rear Parking
After a chat with the seller the deal was done and less than 12 months later i'm back in a B58!

Two weeks into ownership and i took a trip to Performance M in Manchester (i would highly recommend Shak who i have used on the past for work on my Cupra)
Scorpion 4" Decat Downpipe (was after a VRSF which i had on my last car stock was thin on the ground and i was impatient)
MMR panel filter
Brake fluid service with online records updated.
As i already had MG flasher it was a 2 minute job to flash stage 2 in the car park.
Finally a little bit of noise! i love the sound of a B58 but in stock form they can be a little muted.

Good colour choice, pics? Edit: You’ve added a pic now, lovely!
I like my combo of B58 (440i) and 3.2 VR6 (Mk1 TT), very different engines but both with a great character. Definitely get another if the opportunity arises!
Thanks, what a great 2 car garage!I like my combo of B58 (440i) and 3.2 VR6 (Mk1 TT), very different engines but both with a great character. Definitely get another if the opportunity arises!
When i got the R32 i was initially underwhelmed but it gradually got under my skin and the sound after i fitted a Scorpion exhaust was something else.
Rust was becoming an issue so it was time to get rid.

Within a few days of collecting the car i flashed MG flasher stage 1 and XHP stage 3.
So what did you expect that to give, and what support was needed to add stage 2? Exhaust and air filter alone? Or is there more? If not, that's a lot of gain for a little bit of breathing! Edited by Macron on Monday 7th November 21:26
Last week i had the following done at Senior Performance
ZF service
BMW Hot climate mod
Osprey V3 intake pipe
Noticed the gear changes are a little smoother when driving around town but it noticeably smoother when the gearbox is cold.
The Osprey intake gives a slightly deeper tone under throttle rather than any sort of induction noise, also adds a little bit to what is a pretty dull engine bay.
On the way home i ended up with a stanley blade across a nearly new PS5 rear tyre! £16 in Ubers and £186 for a tyre i'm back on the road.
Whilst on the note of tyres i really rate the PS5 - I had Goodyear Eagle f1 SS on my previous 140 and they were marginally better in the dry but had nowhere near the wet grip of the PS5
Future plans for the car.
Steering wheel re-trim
Full screen Apple car play
Suspension - lowering springs, rear subframe inserts and M3 LCA's and TS (Previously had B14's on my old 140 but i would like to retain the adaptive suspension)
New exhaust tips as mine are corroded
Brakes - OEM discs and DS2500 pads
Not sure what order i will get around to these.

For all its faults, I do miss mine. They're a proper rocket ship even stock. Mine was the same year, but a 5dr in Mineral Grey.
A mate of mine had a later GPF equipped one and I was shocked how much quieter it was than my earlier car. That's a lovely car you've got there, OP. Don't see many Valencia Orange ones.

Great car OP & love the mods thus far. I don’t post on here much but lurk & get sent the odd ‘tip off’ on interesting threads & yours is certainly that.
I purchased a very low mile 3 door 2016 M140 in Silver as my daily last March moving from a 2018 Cupra ST, & absolutely love it. So far I’ve just done new suspension (Eibach B12 Pro kit) springs & dampers & new tyres Michelin PS4 to replace the original Bridgestone run flats which were horrible. Contemplating a similar path to you re power upgrades but it’s a slippery slope!
Just added a 2014 Cayman 981 GTS to my small fleet to keep the 6 cylinder thing going.
