Dad (pedestrian) hit by Taxi
Discussion
EDIT: Guess the details didn't imply this. I don't live anywhere near by Dad, it happened yesterday. So to the people trying to make me out to be some thick
there you go.
Just had a very heated conversation with my Dad on the phone and guess this is kinda a vent and also asking for advice.
He was hit last night (8th November) and has an unknown leg injury, refuses to go to the ER due to wait times/covid. The Taxi did NOT stop but a witness chased the Taxi driver down and got him to come back.
Driver claimed he did not see or hear my Dad when he hit him, which I find hard to believe. No details exchanged on the scene between Dad and Taxi driver, however the witness took the Taxi drivers details. My Dad refused to go the hospital, and also did not inform the police.

- I've convinced him to call the police and report it, he thinks it's too late which is dumb.
- He's 62, has a low income job with low hours, he can't afford to stay off and now has no proof he was ran over
- Despite the driver coming back after driving away, it's a hit and run in my eyes, no f
king way they didn't hear him hit the car - He knows the street and time (roughly) it happened

Hospital first and foremost.
Then speak to the witness. Hopefully, your dad will have their details.
You can then trace the taxi's insurer from the reg using the AskMid website.
If your father wants to bring a claim, a no win, no fee type solicitors should take it on if liability is clear cut.

I really cannot understand why this wasn't your first thought, and then acted upon it immediately.
Racing home to post on PH should be a very low priority.

No idea who the witnesses were, no ambulance was called, Dad refused to take any details and just wanted to go home. I don't have much to go with personally, I also can't force him to go to the hospital. Then speak to the witness. Hopefully, your dad will have their details.

Sorry to hear about your dad, hopes he's ok.
But 62 really isnt that old. yes I know it seems it, when you are in your 20's or 30's, but it really isnt. He's at an age where he's a grown man, with hopefully his wits about him. If he says it isnt a big deal, it probably isnt. He's probably just a bit embarrassed about it, and wants to shrug it off.

62 is young enough for any long-term problems not dealt with now to cause many years of misery. I don't know where in the country your dad is OP, but around here we have walk-in clinics at the hospital that can advise without having to be admitted. That's better than nothing. But 62 really isnt that old. yes I know it seems it, when you are in your 20's or 30's, but it really isnt. You can always call the local police and register the incident. They can then visit him.
That's a waste of time if he doesn't have any details of the taxi or the witness. It would make more sense to call him an ambulance* but he could easily just turn them away. Or accept he's an adult and he'll sort himself out in time. He wouldn't be the first person to turn up with a fracture a week or two after the event.
*He's had an accident, apparently can't walk and presumably would struggle to afford the taxi to get to hospital.

Yes, a minor-injuries unit. Not all have X-ray/ scanners on site, though. They may send him on to an A&E.Thats What She Said said:

Yeah 62 isn't that old, but he's not aged well at all. Practically blind, overweight and can't remember anything ever. He is not exactly full of spunk and vinegar lol.But 62 really isnt that old. yes I know it seems it, when you are in your 20's or 30's, but it really isnt. Maybe but doubt it, he's already admitted he can't be bothered with the hassle yet he's missed two days of work. I genuinely think he has a fracture around his knee area and breaking your knee at 62 and not getting it properly braced? That's permanent. He's just an ignorant asshole and as a result I'm going to have to make sure my Mum has enough money to cover the bills which sucks.

This is a good story. Please keep the information coming.

I just found out today? I'm on the opposite side of the country?I really cannot understand why this wasn't your first thought, and then acted upon it immediately.

My friend was in Liverpool, walking along using his phone, misjudged some steps and broke his leg. He was in Hospital with no real way of getting home. I'm in Kent and left work at 3pm, didn't get up to Liverpool until 10pm because of traffic. Got him home at 3:30am, with another 45 minute drive to get home.

The OP speaks of 'ER' so the other side of the country may be in a different time zone?My friend was in Liverpool, walking along using his phone, misjudged some steps and broke his leg. Was a cab not a taxi?
