So coming down M1 Monday night. Variable limits on as there was some road works. 60mph got cruise on 63mph much to wife's disgust. Then double Flash. At which point she chuckled a little.
Ticket came through this morning at it's got me at 63MPH in a 50mph limit. How can that be. Gantry definitely said 60mph. Next one said 50mph. But I hadn't got to it.
Bloody dash cam SD cards corrupted or full so no video. I've asked for photo proof.
Anyone else contested a fine like this??

No, but I wouldn’t say, ‘I thought it was a 60 so I set my CC at 63’. Yes, we know it is within the guidelines, but …. (easy to confuse a 60 with a 50, at a glance’. 60s are usually only for smart, all lanes running motorways.

I believe when the photo comes it also shows the sign with the MPH on it. You'll know then. (Nothing much you can do until then.)

It was 22.40 and they were doing road works went down to 2 lanes. Hadn't reach road works and next Gantry said 50mph.

Just had a NIP from West Mercia , well wife did as it was her car, went to the online nomination section to name myself as the driver, and the photos were available to view there.

Strictly speaking, you are correct. The police don't have to provide any evidence unless you choose to go to court. However as has been mentioned, some forces will include photos when they ask for the driver nomination or they will provide a link to a website where the photo can be seen.

If they don't provide photos at the start the advice on pepipoo is to ask for any photos "to assist with identifying the driver" rather than asking for "evidence". Most forces tend to be helpful and will provide photos if that is how you ask for them but equally you might get the answer "It's a van and the photo is of the back of the van so you can't see the driver so it won't help you".

Some police forces do this via a website. Photos, calibration certificate, site map, etc.

Example:

https://www.westyorkshirepas.com/login

Others don’t have this facility.

A HADECS3 camera system captures the gantry signage.

If I were you then I’d want to see the aforementioned photographs before I ‘contested’ anything.

Which police force is dealing with it?
