Rotary Elite with date function. Its definitely not getting any quartz pulse, though the quartz hands can be driven around by magnetism.
So the circuit must be buggered ?

I have clarified its a Ronda 1 jewel movement, probably the 785 ? But I've never replaced a movement but am interested in watch repairs.
Not sure its worth the effort to fit tho.

Might be even worth just waiting for a grotty looking identical style model but with working mechanism, just not sure what its like removing the face from a movement

Fixed myself with new mechanism, similar for one of wifes Sekondas with parts from cousins uk.

I see this probably isn't the best place to ask these sort of things and most on here are flashing up their association with brand names, must get on a proper watch repairing forum or something.

Good effort! I’m about to try to repair a couple of old mechanical watches and the biggest problem is actually being able to see what I’m doing.

Yes W1bbles! Worth investing definitely in some eye magnifaction AND a load of other practical tools, IMO though.
I sort of managed most of it with just whatever I could find which could pass for these Quarz but anything more would need specific tools.

Just bought some other bargains actually - marcosite Rotary womens vintage but boxed like almost new ( for my wife for xmas). £20 ! Like new.
and a Seiko 5 for her. just £4 !! Just needs new glass.

For the Rotary Elite
I went in almost eye blind through impatience even though I specifically ordered a set of 5x to 10x loupes ( for just £4) which was dumb -
but they will be handy for future.
I was part using my phone/ camera with its case as a stand with LCD on and magnification.
I had a first success with a Sekonda for her with no seconds hand so that did give me some confidence.

Honestly, a right faff, but chuffed I fixed both.
Even removing and refitted the tiny hands without proper tools which was both foolhardy, but impressive that I fixed given the Rotary has a minute hand about 1mm wide and tiny, drop it and you will have a hard chance finding it again ! Let alone pushing it into place correctly.

I won't be into fixing anything this small after this experience though - would rather get something with a bit more meat to it to fix.
I'm after something more substantial and not even just auto seiko 5 for myself as a nice wearer, having found messing about with watches got me into enjoying them a bit more. USSR era Sekonda also of possible interest.

Ah well - I've just bought two knackered automatic Seikos from eBay to have a play with. I'll post any updates here if I can get them going.

Were they the hospice ones, one with the face out of kilter ? Saw those and was tempted to have a punt but didn't get around to it. Shouldn't be too bad. Good luck.

I took the dial from one, the case from another and the movement from a third. Quite pleased with it for about £80 and a couple of hours of messing about…

Ooh nice, was/ am perhaps still after a Seiko automatic myself.

Went to see the old man and for his bday for cheapness he had mint boxed, Montine from Swiss but like a bargain basement one really I think they were £20 and sold on planes in the 70s....so should be about 50 year old.
I just thought this looked a bit interesting and not half bad but really mint. £25 for that and also a vintage Sekonda which tickled me as it was USSR produced - he spent a lot of his time travelling to Russia.
The movement is very solid on the vintage Sekonda just runs and runs with good time. The montine was a bit troublesome at first but some adjustment to the balance wheel it seemed to find a better balance and stop stopping randomly for some reason. Not the best
I only paid about £40 in total for both these though and I followed bidding on some of similar condition to 40-50 !

Oh and recently I also got a very large haul of ladies watches that likely my mum and others may get to enjoy as I will pass onto whoever like any of them, 21x for 21 quid all wind up ones lol.
Some fair ones Montine of Swiss, a couple of nice Rotarys and Sekondas and more. Felt did well for 21 quid.

Also - his bday he just had to give me 2 phony Rolex's in return....he'd already given me one prob 30 years old they aren't top notch copies but good for a mess about with I guess. These came about from his Russian travels I believe, something like £15 for 3 or each, can't recall.

I think he gave me the best one 1st time around as the mechanisms solid and sweet as a nut and keeps good time.
These were a bit crap, one wasn't running at all (hairspring damage I think and ended up trashing it further trying to iron that out) and a poorly sounding movement on the other.
One plain steel of the 3 (of the 2 he gave me recently) is the least offensive (others are part gold with one blue bezel and the other black).
but is also the one not working when he gave me recently lol

I think you can get movements for about 11 quid so might have a go at fixing ( more difficult with a new hairspring?) or once fixed not sure then what to do with this pool of fakeness lol, I don't usually get involved with fakeness and unlikely to rush out and pair them with a fauxrarri

Interestingly on the "mint" Rotary marcosite boxed one I mentioned which I hoped to offer as a gift to my wife still didn't get delivered yet.

Those fekwits "Evri" taken 3 weeks with it in limbo since the 26th of last month suggesting it was in pure limbo of some kind after hitting the warehouse stage, so I pushed got a refund as they didn't respond to sellers two followups.
Only they have now unfrozen it somehow and almost threatened to try and deliver 2 days ago, although didn't bother yday or today !

If they actually do I've mentioned to seller about reimbursing them, even though its too late to "pay again" by ebay for this eventuality as they don't offer that option up, but its only the decent thing to do (if it ever does actually arrive!).

Probably shouldn't get any hopes up with these muppets.
